Australia Day

27th January 2020

You will have no doubt seen the devastation caused by wildfires in Australia. In response to this disaster we propose to run a fundraising day on Monday 27th January 2020 (the day after Australia Day). Any money raised will be donated to the Australian Red Cross.

The activities we propose to do are as follows:

An Australian themed bake sale at breaktime. We are asking for donations of cakes and biscuits with an Australian theme to sell. Below is a link to a recipe for ANZAC biscuits you may wish to use. https://www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/anzac-biscuits

At lunchtime our catering company are going to provide an Australian themed lunch (menu attached.) To give a guide as to how many we are catering for please complete the form on parentmail if your child would like a lunch, by midday Thursday 23rd January 2020.

In addition to the above we aim to make Joey pouches. Please follow the link below for instructions. You will notice that this particular charity have been inundated but I have a friend in Melbourne who will forward any pouches made to a private rescuer. Please send the completed Joey pouches into school or alternatively send your child with the fabric (preferably cut to size) and we will hold a sewing bee after school on Tuesday 28th January 2020.

As a longer term project we will be donating to the WWF to become a ‘Koala Protector’. We will be receiving updates on how our donation has aided the response, recovery and restoration of koalas and their habitats.
