Sustainability @ Henlow

At Henlow Church of England Academy, we recognise our responsibility to protect the planet for future generations. Our commitment to sustainability is woven into the fabric of school life, reflecting our Christian values of stewardship and care for God's creation.

The Sustainability @ Henlow initiative serves as an umbrella for our various environmental projects and educational programs. We aim to empower our students to become environmentally conscious citizens who understand the impact of their actions and are inspired to lead positive change.

This section of our website currently highlights our ongoing efforts across three key pillars:

  • Home Grown @ Henlow: Our flagship gardening and agriculture project where students learn to grow their own food and maintain our school allotments.

  • The Bee Project: An interactive conservation effort focused on supporting local pollinators and understanding the vital role bees play in our ecosystem.

  • Sustainability @ Henlow (Core Initiatives): Updates on our school-wide energy reduction, recycling programs, and curriculum integration designed to reduce our carbon footprint.

We believe that by working together—students, staff, and the wider community—we can create a more sustainable campus and inspire a lifelong passion for environmental preservation.
