Care, Guidance & Support

At Henlow CE Academy the welfare of our pupils is at the heart of all we do. We offer a range of support to our pupils through onsite staff and external agencies.

We are extremely lucky to have Mrs Price, Pastoral and Intervention Leader, who offers pupils a range of support. These include:

1:1 support to:
  • Develop confidence and self esteem
  • To build resilience
  • Learn coping strategies for anxiety or anger
  • Have opportunity to talk through issues and concerns
  • Provide reports and tools for the pupil to independently advance their new skills
  • Provide a 'listening ear'

Group work:
  • For friends to work together to solve friendship issues including Restorative Justice
  • Year 8s to meet and discuss any outstanding worries about transfer
  • Peer work for older pupils to support younger pupils

Mrs Price is also our liaison with other agencies and individuals to whom we can make referrals to further support pupils or families including School Nurse, CHUMs and Early Help Assessment.

Over recent years Henlow has organised and hosted a range of interventions with external agencies. CHUMs have delivered the Encore Music Programmes to support Year 5 & 6 students with anxiety and self esteem issues and Football Programmes to support pupils in managing their behaviour.

A referral might be made to Mrs Price for a range of reasons including supporting a student with:
  • Self esteem & confidence building
  • Resilience
  • Friendship issues
  • Anxiety
  • Anger
  • Coping skills
We aim to work in a collaboratively and transparent way and request permission for your child to work with Mrs Price.
