Henlow is a highly popular and successful, purpose-built Academy located in an attractive rural setting in the middle of Bedfordshire. It is one of the 134 Church schools within the Diocese of St. Albans. The Governing Body recently voted in favour of converting to become an Academy, and converted to Academy Status on 1st April 2012.
The catchment area of the School covers the Parishes of Henlow (including Henlow Camp), Clifton, Langford and Meppershall. We work very closely with the five lower schools located in those villages, from whom we receive most of our children. We also have good, collaborative working with the other lower, middle and upper schools within our Learning Community.
As a school, Henlow has high expectations and sets very high standards. Our mission statement is “Aiming for Excellence”. We aim to provide a caring, safe, happy environment in which children’s learning can be nurtured; and in which all staff can work effectively as part of a friendly and supportive team.
We are proud of Henlow Church of England Academy’s ethos and of our values of Honesty, Enthusiasm, Nurture, Love, Originality and Wisdom, which underpin all activities and relationships within our school and our community.
Current vacancies appear below.
Literacy, Numeracy and Phonics
NJC Scale to be determined based on experience and qualifications.
We are looking to appoint several full-time Learning Support TAs to have a particular focus on the promotion and development of Literacy, Numeracy and Phonics across the Academy. There is the opportunity for HLTA training to be provided for appropriate candidates who wish to follow this pathway.
This would be a great opportunity for aspiring teachers, to gain more experience before applying for a PGCE. Support and opportunities will be available for the right candidate.
The persons appointed will work with the SENDCo, the Learning Support Department and class teachers to plan and deliver support for SEND pupils at Key Stages 2 and 3 that inspires them to participate and excel in the full life of the school.
The successful candidates should be hardworking, energetic and motivated individuals who are willing to develop their expertise, take on new challenges, embrace change and are keen to join our developing team of committed professionals who support the learning and teaching of our SEND pupils. Full training will be given.
Due to technical issues with telephone and email, the closing date for applications has been extended to: Thursday 11th May 2017
